Associate's Degree Program

In addition to the Certificate Program, National Paralegal College offers a course of study leading to an associate's degree in paralegal studies. This program is suitable for students who seek a broad-based foundation in legal studies and business, as well as for students who would like to use their paralegal training as a stepping-stone to a bachelor's degree.

The amount of time required to complete the associate's degree program varies with student course load, as illustrated below.

For students taking 3 courses at a time: 15 months
For students taking 2 courses at a time: 21 months
For students taking 1 course at a time: 41 months

To earn an associate's degree, a student must earn a total of 60 credits, as follows:

4 paralegal core courses: Total: 12 credits
Torts & Personal Injury 3 credits
Contracts 3 credits
Professional Responsibility & Legal Ethics 3 credits
Legal Research, Writing & Civil Litigation 3 credits
8 paralegal specialty courses: Total: 24 credits
Criminal Law 3 credits
Real Property 3 credits
Wills, Trusts & Estates 3 credits
Patents, Trademarks & Copyrights 3 credits
Business Law & Bankruptcy 3 credits
Constitutional Law & Criminal Procedure 3 credits
Domestic Relations 3 credits
Alternative Dispute Resolution 3 credits
8 general education courses: Total: 24 credits
Microeconomics 3 credits
Macroeconomics 3 credits
